John Robert “Bob” Trahnstrom, 89, of Wellsboro, passed away peacefully April 26, 2017. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving wife of 65 years and family, a true testament to his faithful and memorable life.
Bob, born November 10, 1927, grew up in Mount Vernon, NY with his parents and two brothers. Upon high school graduation, he proudly enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1947 as a corporal. He then attended Champlain College and Teterboro School of Aeronautics. After marrying his wife Millie in 1951, he moved
to Miller Place, NY to raise his family and enjoy a 29-year engineering career at Grumman Aerospace. Bob was a founding member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Rocky Point, NY where he and Millie were active members.
Bob and Millie retired to Wellsboro PA in 1989 to enjoy their new homestead and join the local Trinity Lutheran Church. They soon became active community members and continued the practice of their faith at the First Presbyterian Church.
Bob is survived by his wife, Millie; brother and sister-in-law Peter and Darla Trahnstrom; sister-in-law Bobbie Trahnstrom; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean Enderle, Ellen and Greg Pelletier, Jennifer and Ed Testa, Barbara and Doug St. Hilaire; and 14 grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his brother Walter Trahnstrom.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Bob’s life and legacy on Friday, May 12 at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m., with memorial service at the First Presbyterian Church, 130 Main St, Wellsboro, PA 16901, Saturday. May 13, 2017 at 11 a.m., Rev. Michael Birbeck and Rev. Roger Wagner officiating.
