Naomi Fay Lyle, 86, of Wellsboro, PA, went into the arms of her cherished Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, August 4, 2022, surrounded by her loving family in her home, after a long-term battle with dementia and other illnesses. She was predeceased by her parents, and two of her siblings: Joseph Moses and Ruth Uzzell.
Naomi was born in Kaw City, Oklahoma to Rev. Ira and Mabel Moses, on October 14, 1935. She was raised in Springfield, MO and attended Central Bible College (at that time, Central Bible Institute), studying Children's Ministry and singing in the nationally known "Revivaltime Choir." She met Robert on a vacation to see her sister and brother-in-law, who were pastoring a church in DeRidder, Louisiana, where Robert attended.
Naomi and Robert moved to Beaumont, TX, where all three girls were born. After nine years of marriage, the family relocated to Naomi's hometown, Springfield, Missouri, where they raised their three daughters to serve the Lord, and were active in church. Robert obtained his minister's ordination from the Assemblies of God denomination. Robert and Naomi pastored several churches in both Missouri and Louisiana, and their three daughters continue to serve in active ministry.
Robert and Naomi moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to family in the year 2001 and became members of Crossroads Family Worship Center (then Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God) in Wellsboro, where they have remained faithful members.
Naomi loved music, singing in choirs with her beautiful alto voice, playing the piano, her beloved violin and the accordion both at home and at church. She had a sweet and gentle spirit about her which earned the love and respect of everyone she met. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Rev. Robert Wayne Lyle, her three daughters, Karen Fowler (Kent Fowler), Melissa Peters (Almon Peters) and Rachel Linscott (Carl Linscott), her sister, Martha Parker, who resides in Beaumont, Texas, her five grandchildren, Justin Fowler (Amy Fowler), Jason Fowler, Nikki Linscott, Kyle Linscott (Taylor Linscott) and Summer Smith, (Patrick Smith); seven great-grandchildren, Donovan Linscott, Landon Fontenot, Charley Linscott, Ashley Linscott, Jethro Smith, Titus Smith and Sidon Smith (in vitro).
Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to Naomi's life from 6-8pm Friday August 12, and 10-11am Saturday August 13 at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA. Her funeral will follow on Saturday at 11am in the funeral home. A dinner reception is to be held at the Mt. Zion Full Gospel Church, Wellsboro immediately following the funeral. The dinner is free and open to all friends and family.
