Lynne Coolidge Obituary

Lynne W. Coolidge, 74, of Wellsboro passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. She was born at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro on February 17, 1946 to Francis Watkins and Frances (McComb) Watkins of Wellsboro. Lynne graduated from Wellsboro Area High School in 1964 and matriculated to Mansfield State Teachers College where she earned a degree in secondary education in 1968. Lynne began teaching home economics at Troy Area High School in Troy, PA the following fall. After taking some time off to raise her young children, she returned to the classroom as a home economics teacher at Cowanesque Valley High School in Westfield, PA, where she remained for 25 years. Her love of children and her desire to nurture her students lead her to working on the Student Assistance Program team. Lynne was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wellsboro where she served as an ordained elder and chaired the member care committee. She served on the board of directors of the Green Free Library in Wellsboro and the Tioga-Potter Library System. She was also an active volunteer and former board member of the Endless Mountain Music Festival.
Lynne pursued many hobbies throughout her life. She was an avid gardener who loved to spend hours planting and maintaining her flower gardens. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and quilting. But it was playing bridge where she found the most enjoyment. Spending time with the ladies of the bridge club playing cards at Tyoga Country Club or the Penn Wells was something she looked forward to every month. She also loved spending time with her grandson, who affectionately referred to her as Gray, playing with cars and trains.
Lynne was preceded in death by her parents and a son Raymond Francis Coolidge. She is survived by her husband of 50 years R. Lowell Coolidge of Wellsboro, PA; a sister Cheryl (Alan) Jones of Rileyville, VA; a son Nathan (SanBee) Coolidge of Philadelphia, PA; a daughter Amy (Chris) Wood of Mansfield, PA; and a son Peter (Cristina) Coolidge of Selinsgrove, PA. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Vincent Lowell Coolidge, Marilyn Frances Coolidge, and Wyatt Adams Wood and many nieces and nephews.
Her arrangements are being entrusted to Tussey Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro, PA, 16901. Due to the current travel and group restrictions surrounding Covid-19, her present services will be private, but a public service will be held when restrictions are lessened. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Green Free Library, 134 Main St., Wellsboro, PA, 16901 or the Deane Center, 104 Main St., Wellsboro, PA, 16901.
