Obituary

Velma Ann (Jones) Sherman, 78, of Wellsboro, passed away Sunday April 17, 2022 at the Conway Medical Center in Conway, SC. She was born September 19, 1943, in Philadelphia, to Floyd and Bernice (Rakauskus) Jones. On April 2, 1966, she married Joseph Sherman with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Velma worked as an elementary school teacher, and for Laurel Health in senior support services. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and a volunteer at UPMC Wellsboro Soldiers and Sailors.

Velma is survived by her husband, three sons: Brian Sherman of Cleveland, OH, Roger Sherman of Tioga, and David Sherman of Philadelphia; a daughter: Lisa Sherman-Gleason (Scott) of Tioga; 5 grandchildren: Austin Sherman, Ilsa Sherman, Daphne Sherman, Ingrid Dampf, and Carlee Sherman; two great-grandchildren: Nora Sherman and Faye Sherman; three brothers: Duane Jones of Sioux Falls, SD, Kenneth Jones of Liberty, and Festus Jones of Quakertown, PA; and two sisters: Donna Baker of Martinsburg, WV, and Kathy Jamison of Milford Square. She was preceded in death by her parents.
