Wahneta Jean Keck, 89, of Wellsboro, died on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Carleton Senior Care & Rehabilitation Center.
Wahneta was born December 21, 1931, in Covington, the daughter of the late Hiel and Hilda (Brockway) Cochran. She was the wife of the late Bruce F. Keck who preceded her in death on September 27, 2006.
Wahneta was a graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1950 and worked as a production worker for the former Megenthaler for 20 years. Later in life she worked as a waitress for the Dunham’s Department Store and also sold Avon for many years. Wahneta was a member of the Wellsboro V.F.W. Post 4907 Ladies Auxiliary, the Wellsboro American Legion Post 84 Ladies Auxiliary and the Veterans Club. She also loved animals and rescued many over the years.
Wahneta is survived by children, Gail (Scott) Mahon of Gaines; Brent Whittle of Wellsboro; Raymond Whittle of Wellsboro; daughters, Lori Widnikiewicz of Galeton; a brother, James (Linda) Cochran of Wellsboro; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Wahneta was preceded in death by a sister, Rose.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Kristi Webster, officiating.
