Verna (Kurtz) Zimmerman was born Easter Sunday, March 27, 1932, in Lancaster County, PA. She was the daughter of Christian and Ella (Hoover) Kurtz. She was married December 11, 1954 to Clarence Z. Zimmerman. They moved to Wellsboro, April 29, 1969. She was widowed September 21, 2010. In January of 2014 she suffered a stroke that left her bed fast. She was released to her heavenly reward November 8, 2021 at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 13 days. She was a member of the Stony Fork Mennonite Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, one son: Clair Zimmerman, 5 sisters, 5 brothers and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by two sisters: Mary (Clarence) Weaver of Richland, PA, Naomi (Harvey) Weaver of Bernville, PA; 11 children: Rachel (Lester) Hege of Wellsboro, Marian (Robert) Kochersperger of Wellsboro, Arlene (Wayne) Zimmerman of Lebanon, Verna Mae (John) Martin of Wellsboro, Alvin (Mary) of West Liberty, KY, Clarence, Jr. (Carolyn) of Wellsboro, Leonard (Anna) of Canton, PA, Amanda (Myron) Beachy of West Liberty, KY, Harlan (Lily) of Wellsboro, Carl (Sharon) of Wellsboro, Clayton (Gloria) of Wellsboro; 56 Grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Monday, November 15 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Stony Fork Mennonite Church 47 Stony Fork Schoolhouse Road Wellsboro, PA 16901. The funeral will be held 10am Tuesday November 16 at the Stony Fork Mennonite Church. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Kindly omit flowers at the services.
