Robert L. Capwell of Wellsboro, PA passed away on July 22, 2022 at Broad Acres Nursing Facility. He was born on June 3, 1927, the son of Beatrice (Andrews) and Lamar Capwell. He is survived by his daughters: Susan (Bob) Erway of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and Kathy (David) Kennedy of Wellsboro; five grandchildren: Todd (Maryjo) Erway of Saratoga Springs, NY, Brandt Erway of Greenville, SC, Matthew (Kristie) Kennedy of Linglestown, PA, Adrienne (Michael) Gilbert of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Jillian (Michael) Kulczyckyi of Union Deposit, PA; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Joann, his parents, and his sister Betty Flannigan.
Robert was a graduate of Southside High School in Elmira, NY and the Rochester School of Business. He retired from Nabisco Foods after 38 years of service as a sales representative. He is a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy in the Pacific Operation. Robert continued his commitment to serving others by volunteering in the Wellsboro community: a 60-year member of the Wellsboro United Methodist Church, faithfully serving on many committees; as a member of the Wellsboro Lions Club, supporting the organization's many missions, including serving as its president. He was awarded the outstanding Lion of the Year honor and had the distinction of being the oldest member of the club. He also volunteered as the former secretary of the Jacob Miller Cemetery and was a long term volunteer at Broad Acres Nursing Facility.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, skiing and he left a legacy to his family and others of service and caring for the outdoors.
