Richard Smith Obituary

Richard M. Smith, 82 of Antrim, passed away in his home Monday July 26, 2021.  He was born July 6, 1939 in Blossburg to Clarence and Anna (Hughes) Smith.  He graduated from Wellsboro High School in the Class of 1959, and on June 18, 1960 married Katie Short with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.  Richard attended the Stony Fork Baptist Church, he loved racing – especially going to area dirt tracks, was an accomplished carpenter, was an avid New York Giants fan, enjoyed puzzles and picking on everybody.

 

Richard is survived by his wife:  Katie Smith of Antrim; a son:  Richard Calvin (LaVon) Smith of Mansfield; three daughters:  Susan (Brian) Faulkner of Wellsboro, Deb (David Tubbs) Rogers of Morris, and Kathy (Floyd) Phippen of Mansfield; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; three brothers:  Gene Smith of Wellsboro, Bernard (Betty) Smith of Wellsboro, and Tom (Bonnie) Smith of Mansfield.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson:  Bobby Jo Rogers, a sister:  Nancy Starkweather, and 4 brothers:  Ron, Walter, Rick and Robert LeRoy Smith.

 

Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to Richard’s life from 10-11am Friday July 30, 2021 at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA, with a funeral to follow at 11am in the funeral home, Pastor Dennis Crumb officiating.  Burial will be in the Tioga County Memorial Gardens.  Those wishing to make a donation in his memory are encouraged to remember the Stony Fork Baptist Church  3006 Stony Fork School Rd, Wellsboro, PA 16901.  To share a condolence or memory with his family, visit:  www.tusseymosher.com.
