Nettie J. Mays

Nettie J. Mays, 96, of Wellsboro, died on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Leighton Place, Assisted Living, Williamsport.

Nettie was born October 26, 1924, in Morris, the daughter of the late Evan and Anna (Plumley) Jones.  She married Paul E. Mays on October 4, 1946 and they celebrated 64 years of marriage until his passing on October 27, 2010.

Nettie graduated from Wellsboro High School, Class of 1942 and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Wellsboro.

Nettie survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Larry Jackson of Wellsboro; grandchildren, Kris (Timothy) Hilbert of Knoxville, TN; and Thomas Jackson of Parkersburg, WV; and three great granddaughters of Knoxville, TN.  In addition to her parents and husband, Nettie was preceded in death by a son, James Mays and a sister, Leona Ward. 

Due to COVID- 19 restrictions, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
