Obituary
Nancy A. (Hackenberg) Matthews, 85, of Wellsboro, passed away Tuesday February 1, 2022 at the Green Home. She was born July 21, 1936 near Selinsgrove, PA to Wilmer W. and Mary K. Hackenberg. She worked as a teacher and a principal, and on September 13, 1980, she married Donald L. Matthews with whom she shared 33 years of marriage. Nancy loved music and reading, she was a member of the choir at the First Presbyterian Church of Wellsboro and the Wellsboro United Methodist Church, she enjoyed square dancing, sang with and served as past president of the Wednesday Morning Musicales, and she was a faithful volunteer at the Samaritan House in Wellsboro. Nancy is survived by two step-daughters: Vicki Stahlman (Jeff) of Brookville, and Rita Burns (Michael) of Brookville; a granddaughter: Angela Stahlman and a great-granddaughter: Gracelyn Rishell; a sister: Carol Zechman; 2 nieces; and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA. In accordance with her wishes, she will be buried next to her husband in the Paxtonville Cemetery.
