Marshall J. Garner

Marshall was born July 12, 1943, in Potsdam, the son of the late George and Ruth (Finnegan) Garner.  He married the former Tammy L. Huntley on January 23,1990 and have celebrated 33 years of marriage.

Marshall was a graduate of Potsdam Central High School, Class of 1962 and earned a Bachelors degree in Economics from Georgetown University.  He served St. Lawrence County, NY for 30+ years as a Social Worker.  He enjoyed hiking in the Adirondack Mountains, Astronomy and star gazing, listening to classical music and attending performances of the local orchestra, and most of all being very active in his children’s activities.   

In addition to his wife, Tammy, Marshall is survived by daughters, Jeanne Murray of San Diego, CA; Jasmine Garner of Port Jervis, NY; Emily Garner of Florida; Kristen Garner of Washington D.C.; Mary Catherine Garner of Wellsboro; sisters, Susan McNulty of Lemont, IL; Margaret Haggard and Joan Garner both of Potsdam, NY; and four grandchildren, Evelyn, Kelly, Vance and Riley.

In addition to his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. John Garner and a sister, Mary Catherine Garner.

At Marshall’s request, there will be no visitation or services.  The family has entrusted Marshall’s arrangements with Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro, PA. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions in Marshall’s name be made to the Adirondack Mountain Club, 814 Goggins Rd, Lake George, NY  12845.
