Lucille J. (Wilson) Brown, 97 of Wellsboro, passed away Wednesday August 11, 2021, surrounded by family in her home. She was born March 10, 1924 in Wellsboro to Samuel D. and Jessie I. (Misner) Wilson. She graduated from Wellsboro High School, and on September 19, 1942 married Arlington Brown. Together they worked their farm and operated Brown’s Lake Campground. She was a faithful member of the Draper Baptist Church serving in the choir, as treasurer, a Sunday School teacher, a youth leader, and in the Ladies’ Missionary Society. She enjoyed crocheting and used those skills as a mission crocheting Lapghans for the health care mission, sending them to people in 27 states, and then for newborns and their families at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital. Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, and a faithful friend to those in her life. She loved singing and playing both the accordion and piano. In addition to her work on the farm and as proprietor of Brown’s Lake Campground, she worked as an administrative assistant at the Rockwell Law Firm and served as Delmar Township Auditor for many years.
Lucille is survived by a son: Gary Brown (Bonnie) of Wellsboro; 3 daughters: Linda Smith (James) of Mansfield, Dianne Dunham (Jim) of Wellsboro, and Joan Holst (Greg) of Downingtown, PA; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter: Amy Smith, a sister: Dorothy Torpy, and 3 brothers: Hugh, Myron and Donald Wilson.
Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to Lucille’s life from 11am to 1pm Monday August 16, 2021 at the Draper Baptist Church with a service to follow in the church with pastors Ron Hagy and Keith Williams officiating, burial will be in the West Branch Cemetery.
