Obituary

Loretta Ann Nonnenmacher, 80, formerly of Wellsboro, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Spring City, PA on Sunday, April 30, 2023. She was Born on October 6, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, to Angela and Joseph Gargano Sr., and was the oldest of three children. After graduating from Notre Dame College for Women in Staten Island, she taught high school English in Brooklyn, NY, before marrying Edward R. Nonnenmacher on December 18, 1965.

Loretta and her husband shared a passion for restoring and rehabbing the homes they lived in; restoring several homes across New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. She had many artistic talents which she successfully utilized through her countless interior design projects. In addition to obtaining her real estate license, Loretta loved to bake and did so endlessly for local shops, churches, friends and family members. Loretta was taught to cook by her grandmother at 9 yrs old when she took over the family meal preparation and continued up until the day of her passing; her cooking was only surpassed by her baking and will be sorely missed. Loretta pursued many additional hobbies including: Scrabble/word games, painting, tennis, horseback riding, gardening, and antique collecting.

Loretta was a very active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Wellsboro, where she resided until a decline in health in March of 2017. Loretta loved her family deeply and was beloved by those who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Edward R. Nonnenmacher, in February, 2017. Loretta is survived by her daughter, Erica Winget (Stephen) of Spring City; her son, Brian Nonnenmacher of Freehold, NJ; her two brothers: Joseph Gargano, Jr. of Brick, NJ, and Anthony Gargano (Nancy) of Wayne, PA; and her seven grandchildren, Jarad Winget (Nina) of Zionsville, IN; Tyler, Spencer, and Gunner Winget of Spring City, PA; and Henry, Dominick, and Lauren Nonnenmacher of Freehold, NJ.
