Kenneth Cleveland Obituary

Kenneth Clair Cleveland, 81, of Wellsboro, died on Monday, November 23, 2020, at UPMC Wellsboro.


Ken was born October 21, 1939, in Butler Hill, the son of the late Charles and Katherine (Doan) Cleveland.  He married the former Mary Ann Canfield on June 24, 1960 and celebrated 45 years of marriage until her passing on March 3, 2006.

 

Ken graduated from Wellsboro High School, Class of 1959.  He was a bus driver for Niles Transportation for the Wellsboro School District for 51 years.  He also worked for Dresser and Truck Lite, Wellsboro.

 

Ken was a member of the Draper Baptist Church, the Wellsboro Social Club, the Arnot Sportsman Club, the Wellsboro Moose and the Force Baton and Drum Group.  He enjoyed camping, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Ken was an avid Wellsboro sports fan and enjoyed providing bus transportation and attending all events.  

 

Ken is survived by a son, Kenneth C. Cleveland of Mt. Pine, AR; daughters, Beth A, (Bernard) Alexander of Morris; Annette M. (Kevin) Johnson of Stony Fork; grandchildren, Trish Watson of Ft.Walton, FL; Amber (Dave) Roberts of Pittsburgh; Terry (Catherine) Rowland of Wellsboro; Adam Cleveland of Arkansas; Meghan (Brian) Fisher of Avis; 8 great grandchildren, brothers, Dale (Dorothy) Cleveland of Wellsboro; Ronald (Sandra) Cleveland of Middlebury Center; Dennis (Bonnie) Cleveland of Wellsboro; David (Donna) Cleveland of Wellsboro; sisters, Candice Cleveland of Mansfield; Jean Cleveland of Wellsboro; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  Ken is also survived by all the kids he drove on the school bus for 51 years, who were very special to him.

 

In addition to his parents and wife, Ken was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Cleveland and a daughter, son-in-law and grandson, Deborah, Basil and Matthew Van Vliet. 

 

Due to COVID- 19 restrictions and the wishes of Ken, there will be no visitation, A private burial will be held.  Ken’s family will be following his current bus route between 10:15 and 10:45 am Saturday, November 28, 2020 on the way to the cemetery.  A celebration of Ken’s life will be announced at a later date.
