John H. Scholtz, 83, of Wellsboro, passed away Saturday February 26, 2022 at UPMC Wellsboro. He was born September 27, 1938 in Alba, PA to Herman and Isabelle (Thomas) Scholtz. Herman was killed serving in WW II, and John was raised by his mother and his step-father Carl Krotzer. John graduated from Canton High School, and on February 15, 1959 married Charlene Clark. He used his aptitude for troubleshooting and fixing things to build a career in engineering working for many local firms, but primarily for Mergenthaler Linotype in Wellsboro, he ultimately retired from Brodart in Williamsport. John had been an active member of the Wellsboro United Methodist Church, serving on committees and using his talents on various projects. He enjoyed model airplanes, and used his free time constantly engaged in projects and fixing things.
He is survived by his son: Lyle Scholtz of Concord, NH, a daughter: Vickie Christian (Bill) of Wellsboro, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a sister: Deborah Barnes Zachery of Elmira, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son: Daryl Scholtz and his brother: Edward Scholtz.
Friends and family are invited to the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA to pay tribute to John's life from 12pm-1pm Friday March 4, 2022 with a funeral service to follow at 1pm in the funeral home.
