John Frank Firmani

John Frank Firmani, 73, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 after a very courageous hard battle with Cancer. 

He was born March 14, 1948, the son of the late Joseph and Viola Firmani.  Instilled with a lifelong thirst for knowledge John was a 1970 graduate of Allentown College.  He holds an Elementary Education degree and also earned two Master’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania in 1973 and 2007. 

John was an elementary teacher for 10 years, educating second grade students in Philadelphia, retiring in 2010.  Previous to his teaching, John was a Pastry Chef and a cook.  He worked at “The Chef’s Market” on 2nd & South in Philadelphia.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 35 years, Eileen (Gampper)Firmani; brothers, Fredrick (Joann) Firmani, James (and his late wife Jackie) Firmani, sisters, Frances Firmani, Margaret (Bob) Quicksell, Barbara Smith, Mary Ann (Charles) Caricone and many dear nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his eldest brother, Joseph and a sister, Grace.

When John was not cooking or baking cakes, cookies etc. for his family and friends, he was enjoying his other many passions; gardening, music (especially classical and opera), and reading.  He was a long time and very committed member of the monthly Green Library Reading Group. 

John was a true lover of life, demonstrated by his constant smile, his great humor, and soft and peaceful manner along with his generous character were so inspiring to so many individuals.

A celebration of John’s life will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:30 am at the Marsh Creek Fellowship Baptist Church, 8733 US Route 6, Wellsboro, with Pastor Keith Williams, officiating.
