Janice (McCracken) Hurlbert, 86, of Decaturville, TN passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at home. She was born 15 July 1934 in Gaines Township, PA. Janice was the daughter of the late Basil and Wanda (Ripley) McCracken. She was presided in death by her husband of 66 years William Hurlbert.
Janice was a graduate of Gaines High School. Together they pursued numerous careers during their lives; farming, crop dusting, business owners, and associate missionaries. They owned and operated the Good News Bookstore in Wellsboro for many years. They were members of the Charleston Baptist Church of Wellsboro. Janice taught children in Child Evangelism Fellowship and taught Ladies Bible Study for many years. After retiring from the bookstore, they were associate missionaries with UIM (United Indian Missions) in Glendale, Arizona for 12 years. Janice continued to teach both ladies and children.
Surviving is her sister, Joyce (Stephens) Campbell of Athens, AL sons: Stephen Hurlbert and wife, Robin of Decaturville, TN; Jeffrey Hurlbert of Galeton, PA; Richard Hurlbert and wife, Dawn of Thornton, CO; and Ronald Hurlbert of Thornton, CO. She has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Due to COVID -19 concerns, only a small immediate family gathering at graveside will be observed. Pastor Bradley Prouty of Charleston Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will be at the Knowlton Cemetery with the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA entrusted with local arrangements.
