Henry E. Topf, Jr., 78, of Wellsboro passed away Wednesday April 13, 2022 at the Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester, NY. He was born September 4, 1943 in Wellsboro to Henry E. and Bertha M. (Stock) Topf, Sr. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. While serving in Viet Nam he earned a Purple Heart. On April 24, 1962 he married Synthia A. Spencer with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage. Together they raised their children while living in several states. Henry was a member to St. Peter's Catholic Church in Wellsboro. He was an avid hunter, shooter, outdoorsman, and world traveler. He was an entrepreneur and inventor, starting several companies and holding many patents. Henry also initiated a charity called Vietnam Poverty Relief Inc., and was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Henry is survived by his wife: Synthia Topf, of Wellsboro; a daughter: Christine Read (Richard) of Newark, OH; two sons: Henry Topf, III (Rebecca) of Sugar Grove, OH, and Sidney Topf (Kimberly) of Eagle River, AK; two brothers: Ralph David Topf (Debra) of Wellsboro, and John William Topf (Debora) of Campbell, NY; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: James Douglas Topf.
