Hazel Hollars
Hazel Marie (Sheets) Hollars, formerly of Landenberg, Pennsylvania, passed away September 19, 2019. She was 92 years old.
Hazel was born March 10, 1927 in Worth, West Virginia. She was the seventh of 9 children of William and Laura Sheets. She graduated from high school in 1945, and moved to Pennsylvania. She worked in the mushroom industry for four years. During that time, she met and married Creed Hollars. They went on to raise 7 children, ran their family business, retiring in 1988 to Wellsboro, PA. Tragically, Creed died 2 months later. Hazel spent the next 25 years living in Mountain City, TN, Hillsboro, WV, Landenberg, PA and Bear, DE.
During her life, she enjoyed collecting antiques, going to the race track to bet on horses, traveling, country music, and playing card games. She would play rummy any time anyone would open a deck of cards.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She made a lasting impact on everyone she met, and opened her heart and home to all.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, 7 of her siblings, and by her husband of 39 years, Creed L. Hollars, and by her son David W. Hollars. She is survived by one sister, Ruby Suits and her husband Roy Suits of Chilhowie, VA, her children, Robert Hollars (West Grove, PA), Marlyn Hollars (Bear, DE), Michael Hollars (Hillsboro, WV), Laura Wilson and her husband Thomas Wilson (Mountain City, TN), Sandra Stoneback (Mountain City, TN), and Edward Hollars (Avondale, PA), 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was interred next to her husband, Creed in Wellsboro, PA on September 25, 2019.
