Hattie R. (Parton) Simmons

Hattie R. (Parton) Simmons, 82, of Middlebury, passed away Wednesday April 13, 2022 in her home surrounded by family. She was born April 15, 1939 near Farmville, VA to Lee and Selma (Webb) Parton. She moved with her family to this area in 1947, and she graduated from high school, and worked as a bookkeeper for Tioga County. She served as a Jury Commissioner for Tioga County, was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and a 51 year member of the Wellsboro Moose Auxiliary. Her joy in life was the opportunity to give care to her grandson Kelcey Simmons.

Hattie is survived by her son: Bernard E. Simmons (Kathy) of Wellsboro; two daughters: Gloria Shelmire (James) of Wellsboro, and Karry Simmons of Wellsboro; 8 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers: Carl Parton of Richmond, VA, and George Parton (Margaret) of Richmond, VA, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 8 siblings.

Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to her life from 12:00pm to 1:00pm Tuesday April 19, 2022 at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA with a funeral to follow at 1:00pm in the funeral home.
