Dolores A. Oakley, 90, of Liberty, passed away Wednesday September 7, 2022 at Broad Acres Nursing Home. She was born July 30, 1932 in Scranton, PA, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Steuben) Simpson. She graduated from high school in Scranton and on December 21, 1956 married Paul Oakley. Together they raised three children and shared 57 years of marriage. Dolores was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Liberty, and the Sebring Grange, and she enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Later in life she worked at the Liberty schools in the cafeteria, but for most of her life, she worked as a farmer’s wife. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan, but her biggest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dolores is survived by two sons: Paul T. (Betty) Oakley of Liberty, and Mark E Oakley of Tioga; a daughter: Lori (George) Valentine; 5 grandchildren: George, Amanda, Paul, Mindy, and Nikki; a step-grandchild: Cassandra; 9 great-grandchildren: McKayla, George IV, Deakon, Serena, Silas, Colin, Addison, Connor, and Carson; 6 step-great-grandchildren: Cordell, Nina, Anthony, Sebastian, Trinity, and Emily; a sister: Janet Hartley of Warren, OH; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers: Edward and Ronald Simpson.
Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to Dolores’ life from 6:00-8:00pm Friday September 9, 2022 at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA and her funeral service at 2:00pm Saturday September 10, 2022 in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Salem-St. Paul Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to the Salem Lutheran Church Route 414 Liberty, PA 16930.
