Berwyn Wilcox Obituary

Berwyn R. Wilcox, 87, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday July 7, 2021 in his home, surrounded by family.  He was born August 18, 1933, in Stony Fork, the son of Ivan J. and Eva “Pearl” (Callahan) Wilcox.  He was drafted into the US Army, and immediately following his graduation from high school, he served as a medic during the Korean Conflict.  Berwyn married Katharine M. “Kate” Mahosky, and together they raised 4 children.  He was a member of the Bakerburg Community Church.  Following his service in the Army, Berwyn worked as a machinist for Dresser, and was accomplished at many aspects of construction.  He built his own home, restored homes for family members, and he used his electrical and plumbing skills extensively while serving with the mission group:  RVICs.  He was the baseball coach for the Tioga County Christian Academy in Charleston and helped with Little League baseball, he was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hiking, hunting and fishing.  He served on the board of Child Evangelism Fellowship in Tioga County.  Berwyn was a remarkable man who had a great love for God, his family and friends, and this country.  Even in his last moments he was concerned for others and his life was best lived travelling through 49 states with his beloved wife in their camper, cheering on his numerous grandchildren at sporting events, and sharing with any listening ear his vast knowledge of this area.  He is now absent from his earthly body joining his family and friends who have gone before him.  He was comforted knowing he would have a glorious reunion in Heaven with those family and friends left behind.

Berwyn is survived by his wife:  Kate Wilcox, of Mansfield; two sons:  Peter J. E. Wilcox (Ranea) of Wellsboro, and Kerwyn Wilcox (Julie) of Stony Fork; two daughters:  Pamela Moyer-Dunkleberger of Covington, and Barbara Stager (Richard) of Mansfield; 11 grandchildren:  Amanda K. Sims (Cody), Bradly J. W. Moyer (Megan), Brendyn Stager (Sanjana), Brianne Coolidge (Derick), Lucas J. Wilcox, Trenton J. Wilcox, Derrick Poorman, Shane Poorman, Devyn Wilcox, Sydney Wilcox-Spauling (Kyle), and Bayley Wilcox; and 10 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother:  Ernest Wilcox.
