Alice Mickey Hard Obituary

Alice Lillian Carlson Mickey Hard, 90, of Wellsboro, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, April 8, 2022, with her loved ones at her side. 

She was born on December 8, 1931, in Lorain, OH, the daughter of the late Dr. Benjamin and Edna (Dellinger) Carlson.  She was the wife of 55 years to the late Max E. Mickey who preceded her in death on April 15, 2009 and the wife of the late Rev. Lawrence Hard who proceeded her in death on April 11, 2014.

Alice attended Otterbein College and earned her Bachelors degree from Mansfield University.  She was an Elementary Art Teacher for the Wellsboro School District for 27 years.  She was a founding member of Vesta, a local art group.  Family always came first for Alice.  Her family and her art were her passions.

She is survived by daughters Judy Mickey Watson of Wellsboro, Ann Mickey Miller and husband Scott, also of Enola, PA; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Mickey of Little Compton, RI; six grandchildren, Lauren, Sarah and Christopher Mickey, Andrew Watson, Max and Hannah Miller; five great-grandchildren, Emma Morick, Xavier Kuntz, Lila Kuntz, Daryn Sullivan, John Mickey Sullivan.

Along with her husbands and parents, Alice was preceded in death by a son, Captain John Mickey, a brother, Benjamin Carlson Jr., and sisters, Mary Cay Wells and Dr. Ann Brown.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center, 134 Main St., Wellsboro, PA 16915.  To share a memory or condolence with her family visit www.tusseymosher.com.
