Agnes Catherine (Cheatley) Callahan, "Sis", 89, of Fountain,Florida, surrounded by many of her children, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 25, 2021. She was married to the late William Edward Callahan. Born January 17, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pa, she was the daughter of the late George Alexander and Josephine Mary Regina Cheatley.
In 1967, Sis moved with her husband and family to Tioga County to provide a life for their children outside of the city. Eventually settling in Wellsboro, Sis loved calling Wellsboro home and did so for over 55 years before moving to Fountain, Florida.
Sis will always be remembered for her love of God and children. Over the years, Sis was a Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Foster Parent and worked at The Presbyterian Child Development Center (PCDC) in Wellsboro. Eventually Sis opened her own day care center where many still mention and talk of Aunt Sis. After retiring, Sis continued her work with children as a Foster Grandparent with Bradford-Tioga Head Start.
Sis was a member of Bear Creek Assembly of God Church in Panama City, Florida and First Presbyterian Church in Wellsboro.
Sis loved her family and instilled in her 14 children a love of God and of family that neither distance nor difference could shatter. Her children were raised in a home full of faith in God, love and singing where true memories were made.
Cherishing the memories of their mom's love, laughter, faith, and song are her sons, daughters, sons-in-law and daughters- in-law, Larry and Kathleen O'Dell, Bob and Mary Bruzgulis, Patricia Callahan, Catherine Callahan and Bruce House, William and Jacqueline Callahan, David and Sandra Button, Clint and JoAnne Thomson, John and Linda Callahan, Jeff and Deborah Cram, Joseph and Sheila Callahan, William and Ethel Priset, Leonard and Theresa Callahan and Danny and Lisa McMindes, 30 grandchildren and and 35 great grandchildren.
In addition to her late husband and parents, Sis was preceded in death by her son Patrick Callahan, and her brother's William Cheatley and Francis Cheatley.
The funeral service will be held at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects to Sis from 12:00pm-1:00pm Thursday December 2, 2021 at the funeral home with her funeral to follow.
