Wanda (Bockus) Kennedy, 97, of Wellsboro, passed away Monday November 8, 2021 at the Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport. She was born March 4, 1924 in Wellsboro to Alfred J. and Nora (Cavanaugh) Bockus, and grew up and went to school in Marsh Creek. She married Mahlon L. Kennedy in May of 1942, and they shared 43 years of marriage. She was an active member in the First Baptist Church in Wellsboro and enjoyed working with missions and the youth of the church in the Pioneer Club. Outside the home she worked for Corning Glass Works in Wellsboro. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and especially enjoyed the holidays and preparing the meals for the family get-togethers. She was a hard worker and enjoyed cutting firewood to heat her home, enjoyed sewing and making clothes, was a talented painter, and really enjoyed the Benedict's Bus trips she took. Wanda is survived by two sons: Gary Kennedy (Patricia) of Wellsboro and Bruce Kennedy (Karen) of FL; a daughter: Kathleen Hancock (Billy Joe) of Wellsboro; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter: Lorna Bockus Mundt, and 3 brothers: Lyle, Roland and Daryl Bockus. Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to her life from 9-10 am Saturday November 13 at the First Baptist Church of Wellsboro with a funeral to follow at 10 am in the church.
