Victor Medina, Jr., 71, known to many as “Vito”, of Knoxville passed away early Thursday December 3, 2020 at UPMC Soldiers and Sailors in Wellsboro. Victor was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, and grew up in Philadelphia. Victor was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War with an honorable discharge after 5 years of service.
Many knew Victor for his fun-loving, comical, and unreserved nature. He was also a kind-hearted soul with tons of passion and creativity. He believed family is everything, and truly loved and cherished the large family he was a part of. Victor was an avid sports fan and followed all the Philadelphia teams, especially the Phillies and Eagles. He passed the time reading and keeping stats on his teams and collecting various sports memorabilia. He was generous and had a soft spot for baby animals, of which were never turned away when needing a loving home.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed writing, and had a poem published in an edition of the National Library of Poetry anthologies. Recently Victor had found comfort in learning to draw, and spent many hours filling blank pages with eclectic art. Victor donated regularly to many charities over the years and is a large supporter of Macular Degeneration research, Susan G. Komen for Breast Cancer research, and St. Jude Children’s hospital.
Due to the health concerns of Covid 19, the family is planning a memorial service for a future date and has entrusted Victor’s arrangements to the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA 16901. To share a memory or condolence, please visit www.tussyemosher.com
