Thomas L. Briggs

Thomas L. "Papa" Briggs, 70, of Wellsboro, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday March 30, 2021 at his residence. He was born July 1, 1950, in Wellsboro, to Burton Sylvester and Evelyn (Reese) Briggs. He grew up in Wellsboro and graduated from Wellsboro High School in the class of 1968. He graduated from Bloomsburg College with a degree in Business Administration, and while in college served his country in the Army Reserves. Thomas worked for many years as a trust officer with Citizens and Northern Bank in Wellsboro. He was an active man, and had been a member of Rotary International and served on the board at The Green Free Library, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, building and remodeling projects. He could fix anything and enjoyed spending time at the Tyoga Country Club. He loved spending time with his grandkids, the outdoors and his pond, and enjoyed travelling both domestically and internationally. Thomas is survived by his wife Rebecca of Wellsboro; two sons: Chris Briggs of Williamsport and Cameron Hubbard (Alex) of Scranton; two daughters: Karen Walter (Joseph) of New Hope, PA, and Lauren Morral (Chris) of Wellsboro; 6 grandchildren: Griffin and Grady Morral of Wellsboro, Rhett and Mitchell Walter of New Hope, and Cecelia and Charlotte Hubbard of Scranton; 4 sisters: Sylvia McHenry (Robert), Connie Cooper (Mark), Laura Osgood, and Kay Cooper (Dave); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law: Nola Burtch; father-in-law: Charles Burtch; a brother-in-law: Michael Osgood; and a sister-in-law Claudia Bowers.
