Thomas Joseph Barnett

Thomas J. Barnett passed away peacefully at the age of 86 with his loving wife of 65 years and his children by his side on August 1, 2016 at Broad Acres Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania.

Tom was born January 20, 1930 in Langhorne, Bucks County, the youngest child of the late Samuel and Edith (Dahlman) Barnett.

In 1951, Tom married Margaret Cruise of Newtown. Soon after, they moved to River Lane in Levittown where they lived for 49 years and raised four sons and two daughters.

Tom worked for 35 years operating a weaving loom at OKO Plush Company and Ramloc Pile Fabric. However, it was upon retirement, when Tom found his most joyful and fulfilling work, assisting his sons, Jim, Steve and Mike with their Bristol, PA roofing business.

In 2008 Tom and Marge fulfilled their lifelong dream and relocated to Morris, PA, where they had enjoyed nearly every family vacation over the years. Tom found great happiness hunting and fishing with his sons, and hiking and exploring with his daughters and grandchildren. He taught them everything he knew about the great outdoors, and instilled in them a lifelong love of the Tioga County wilderness which the family affectionately calls, “The Mountains”.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife Marge, who devotedly sat by his side every day as he suffered from late stage Alzheimer’s Disease. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in June.

He is also survived by his son Tom Jr. (Debbie) of Langhorne, son Jim (Anne) of Wellsboro, son Steve (Michelle) of Levittown, daughter Terri Krystopolski (Ron) of Wilmington, DE, son Mike (Monica) of Levittown and daughter Susan Persichetti (Greg) of Newtown Square, PA; 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Tom is predeceased by his is brothers Sam, Charles and John Barnett and sisters Edith Miles, Frances Emmons and Louise Welch.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral service Friday, August 12th, 10 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church, 47 Central Ave., Wellsboro, PA.

A celebration of life will be held in Bucks County at a later date.

The Barnetts extend their most sincere thanks to the staff at Broad Acres, who over the past several years have lovingly cared for Tom and have become part of the family.
