Rose Mary Crane

Rose Mary Crane, 89, of Wellsboro, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born November 16, 1932, in Wellsboro, PA the daughter of Jacob Dewey Lawton and Clara (Jones) Lawton.  She married Lawrence Arland Crane on January 27, 1963, sharing 56 years of marriage together.

Rose was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Wellsboro, having served as the treasurer and Sunday school teacher for many years.  She also was a member and Sunday school teacher of the United Methodist Church of Wellsboro prior to her marriage.

She was employed by Davis Furniture in Wellsboro in her early career as a bookkeeper and worked for Ray’s Jewelry in Elmira, NY, where she retired.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution where she regularly attended meetings, and served in multiple positions.

She skied with the family at Denton Hill Ski Resort where both her husband and son volunteered as National Ski Patrolmen.  She enjoyed being competitive playing cards, dominos, scrabble, and other board games with her friends and family.  She also attended many local plays and Broadway plays and musicals.

Rose will be dearly missed by family and friends for her positive outlook that she had right up to the very end.  She rarely had a photo taken of just herself, she was always surrounded by friends and family.

Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas W. Crane and Susan M. Crane, of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren, Samuel and Katherine Rose; one step granddaughter, Brittany; many nieces, nephews and cousins; Suzanne Thomas, Jackie Strickland, and many other dear friends.

Memorial donations can be made in Rose’s name to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Wellsboro, 53 West Avenue, Wellsboro, PA 16901.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, December 10th, from 5-8 p.m. at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA, 16901.

Rose’s funeral service will be held the next day, Saturday December 11th, at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., at 11:00 am.
