Robert "Rob" Walter Johnson, 53, of Schuylkill Haven, PA, passed away on June 16, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center. He was born August 24, 1972, in Elmira, NY, to Max Johnson and the late Eva Jo Merrick Dochstader. Robert was the owner/operator of a Pro Fleet Care franchise and R and R Contracting, serving customers across Pennsylvania.
Rob loved spending his time outdoors and embraced life to the fullest. Whether he was riding his side-by-side, enjoying a motorcycle ride, or hunting, he found joy in every adventure. His true passion, however, was fishing. An avid and accomplished fisherman, Rob competed in and won numerous local and regional bass fishing tournaments throughout Pennsylvania, New York, and North Carolina over the course of his lifetime. Hunting was another pastime he greatly enjoyed and one that brought him many cherished memories with family and friends. As an organ donor, Rob's legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the hope he provided to others.
Left to cherish Rob's memory are his father, Max Johnson of Wellsboro; his brother, Thomas Johnson (Tari) of Asheboro, NC; his sisters, Danielle Castiglia (Chris), Maxine Blanck (Brian), Krissy Light (Zach), Kala Coulter (Sam), and Makanna Johnson (D'Ante Butts); his dear friends, Susan Eckert and Eric Watral; his stepson, Greg Eckert (Zoe), and two grandsons; along with many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Rob is preceded in death by his mother: Eva Jo Dochstader; stepfather: Marty Dochstader; stepmother: Brenda Johnson; maternal grandparents Robert and Mae Merrick; paternal grandparents Walter and Janice Johnson; and special hunting dogs: Brandi and Nixon.
A private celebration of Rob's life will be held Saturday July 4, 2026, at Hills Creek State Park in Wellsboro.
