Richard M. Zugarek, 71, died January 3, 2022, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Benfleet, Essex, England, on May 17, 1950, the son of Yuroslav and Joyce (Burdis) Zugarek, who predeceased him. His was also predeceased by his sister, Christina Harrington. He is survived by his loving wife Elaine (Eberhart) Zugarek, son Graham (Jae) Zugarek, daughter Gwendolyn (Matthew Wright) Zugarek, granddaughter Alice Jean Wright, and step grandsons Keith Tester and Charlie (Ethan) Boehme-Byrd. Richard graduated from Leister Polytechnic, Leister, England, where he also earned his Master's degree, and taught for several years at Nottingham Polytechnic, now DeMonte University, before immigrating to the United States. In the States, he taught at Elizabethtown College and Mansfield University before moving into private industry where he worked for several companies, retiring from Kingdom, Inc. He enjoyed playing duplicate bridge, reading, listening to classical music, and traveling to England to visit family and friends. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and children. He was a member of the Wellsboro Moose Lodge and St. Peter's Church, Wellsboro. Visitation with his family will be at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA on Friday, January 7, from 6-8pm, and a Catholic mass will be held for him on Saturday, January 8 at 9:30am at St. Peter's. All participants and visitors will be required to wear masks and maintain 6 feet distancing. He will be interred at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Samaritan House (St Peter's, Wellsboro), Moosehaven School (Order of the Moose, Wellsboro), St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or a charity of one's choice.
