Richard Lee Bickel, 82, of Middlebury Center, PA, died on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at The Green Home, in Wellsboro.  He was the husband of Shirley L. Wagner, whom he married on August 20, 1960. Richard was born November 28, 1934 in Garrett, IN, the son of the late Basil Allen and Vera (Hill) Bickel.

Richard was an US Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Dexter Baptist Church. He served as a deacon in churches both in Colorado and Pennsylvania and he was always willing to help whenever there was a need. He enjoyed sharing his faith, went on two mission trips to Honduras and Grenada, in order to share the love of Jesus and His gift of eternal life.

During his lifetime, he was employed by IBM as a Mfg. Engineer; in addition, he was self-employed by D&S Woodshop, doing custom woodwork, which he greatly enjoyed.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Shirley of Middlebury Center, is his son, Kevin Bickel (Gina), Hungry Horse, MT; daughter, Penny VanArsdale (Brian), Orange, TX; four grandchildren, Jessica Kiddy, Zachary Bickel, Adam VanArsdale and Megan Smith; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Memorials may be made in Richard’s name to the Next Generation West Ministries, PO Box 190835, Hungry Horse, MT 59919 or NGWM.org.
