Phyllis J. Driebelbies, 84, of Wellsboro, passed away Friday July 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. She was born June 9, 1940, in Wellsboro, to the late Elmer Hugh and Margaret E. (Dartt) Monks.
Phyllis was a graduate of Wellsboro High School, Class of 1958, she was a supervisor for Mergenthaler, Wellsboro for many years. She was also an inspector for Osram-Sylvania, Wellsboro. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and board games, reading books, taking long rides in the country to look for wildlife, going to casinos, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by three sons: Vincent Driebelbies, John (Ruby) Driebelbies, and Tim (Cathy) Driebelbies all of Wellsboro; three brothers: James Monks, Alba (Gale) Monks, and Donald (Eileen) Monks all of Wellsboro; four sisters: Mary Lou Brooks, Nancy (Todd) Niles both of Wellsboro; Helen Howe of NH; and Grace (Larry) Giroux of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Ryan (Alicia) Welch, Dixie (Mike) Williams, Samantha Driebelbies, Patrick (Chelsea) Driebelbies, Kali Jessup, and Brock (Kristie) Driebelbies, and great grandchildren: Melanie, Anthony, Melissa, Jasmine, Braylen, Bransyn, Elliette, and Kinsley. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Buckwalter, and her lifelong companion of 53 years, Glen Butler.
At Phyllis’s request, there will be no visitation or services. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to the Niles Valley Cemetery, c/o Ernie Davis, 133 Ken A. Buck Ln., Middlebury Center, PA 16935, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
