Penny Marie Boom

Jan 14, 1965 — Jul 31, 2026

Penny Marie (Gleason) Boom, 61, of Wellsboro, was tragically taken from us on the night of July 30, 2026. She was born January 14, 1965, to Thomas and Jean Morgan (Bellinger) Gleason in Blossburg. Penny was a valued employee in the radiology department at UPMC Wellsboro. A lifelong Wellsboro resident, Penny could be found enjoying an early morning walk in the beautiful Wellsboro Cemetery, lunch break walks around the Green, or getting drinks with her many friends, whom she always kept laughing, fed, and feeling loved. She had a way of making sure everyone she loved knew it, most of all her beloved family. Penny loved a house full of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandson. They were always met with a hug at the door, and an even bigger one on the way out. She put on the best meals and if she knew what you loved, always took care to make it specially for you. Spaghetti, Lasagna, chocolate pie, Watergate Salad and pumpkin roll will never be as good as a batch she made just for you. With her big kids she loved to joke around, and she was so funny. You could almost always expect to be in tears laughing when we got together. She enjoyed a fire in the summer, grilling as often as possible and having her frequent friends pop in throughout the day. Penny loved a long ride on her motorcycle and was always one to ride for a cause. She could be counted on to chip in on a benefit and save pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House for as long as can be remembered. She looked for ways to ease life's burdens for others, because often her own were so heavy.

As a wife she was supportive through all of life's ups and downs. Holding things together through medical hurdles, devastating losses, and rejoicing in every accomplishment achieved, devoting thirty-eight years to being the foundation of their home. She deserved so much more than she found in this life. There wasn't a life she touched that wasn't brighter for it.

Penny is survived by her mother: Jean Morgan of FL; a daughter: Andrea Ilniski (Nate) of Williamsport and their children: Cammeron, Rogue, and Kaziah; her son: Avery Bentley (Christel) of Blossburg and their children: Aryan, Joshua, LilyMarie, Lavender; and a great-grandson: Xavier; a son-in-law: Daniel Bacon of Wellsboro and his children: Samara, Kaleb, and Kendra; two brothers: William and Robert Gleason; two nieces: Jamie and Ashley; many great-nieces and nephews, and so many friends within this community. She has been joyfully reunited with her daughter: Misty Bacon whom she has deeply missed for the past nine years.

Friends and family will be invited to pay tribute to her life when arrangements are finalized.
