Meta Mae (Rice) Neal

Meta Mae Neal, 87, of Little Marsh, passed away on Thursday, February 04, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of Doyle A. Neal who preceded her in death on October 5, 2007.  Meta was born September 30, 1928, in Hornell, NY, the daughter of the late Edwin

and Verda (Peck) Rice.

Meta received her RN degree from Arnot School of Nursing. She was employed at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital.  She and her husband, Doyle, owned and operated Seal’s Lumber, in Wellsboro and Coudersport.  Meta was an active member of the Little Marsh United Methodist Church, where she held many leadership roles.  She was a Girl Scout leader for many years.  Meta restored dolls and donated them to many charitable organizations.  She was an avid quilter and was always walking.  Mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her family, having picnics and campfires.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and John Zuck, West Milton, OH; Joan and Edward Hopper, McKeesport and Lisa and Douglas Romaneo, Knoxville; her sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Debra Neal, Fuquay Varina, NC and Tadd and Rhonda Neal, Westfield; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to Meta’s Life Celebration on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd. 139 Main St., Wellsboro.  Funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Little Marsh United Methodist Church, with her pastor, Rev. Carol A. Campbell and her son-in-law, Rev. John Zuck, officiating.  Burial will be in Middlebury Union Cemetery.
