Lyle H. Root

Lyle H. Root, 97, formerly of Stony Fork, son of the late Blanche and Ira Root, passed away January 28, 2017 at Broad Acres Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He married Ruth M. Wetherbee on August 8, 1939 and spent 66 happy years together.

Lyle began his adult life on a dairy farm in Stony Fork, then eight years with Penn Dot, and retired after twenty years as Supervisor and Road Foreman with Delmar Township.  After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking.

Surviving are a sister Charlotte Root Clark; daughter Noreen (Robert) Baker of Wellsboro; son Kenneth L. Root of Corning, NY (special friend Sally Smith); five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by wife Ruth in 2006, sister Dorothy Root Bauman in 2006 and daughter-in-law Suzanne Root in 2008.

Friends and family are invited to call on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA.  Funeral will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Erik Ferguson officiating.  Burial will be in West Branch Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lyle's name to the West Branch Cemetery Association, in care of Nancy Bray, 321 West Branch Road, Wellsboro, PA 16901.  To share your fondest memories or condolences, visit www.tusseymosher.com
