Lyle Hinman

Lyle "Corky" Hinman, 85, of Wellsboro, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was born June 21, 1941, in Hillsboro, OR to Lyle and Ada (Colaw) Hinman. Ada passed away when Lyle was young, and he was raised on the farm just north of Wellsboro by his grandparents Henry and Grace Colaw. He developed a deep affection for this area and the farm. He was a hard-working woodsman and cut his own firewood through age 77, he enjoyed the local wildlife (excluding woodchucks), and loved rocks and building with them. Horses were special to Lyle, he loved working with them and drove wagon rides through the canyon and lead wilderness adventures on them. He enjoyed meticulously mowing grass, lots at home and for family sometimes as far as Angelica, NY. Lyle was a devout 7th Day Adventist, and he deeply loved his family.

Surviving are his wife: Anita Hinman of Angelica, NY; a son: Eric Hinman (Lynn) of Big Pond; three daughters: Regina Hinman (Mathieu) of Angelica, NY, Alice Hinman of Raleigh, NC, and Robin Hinman of Wellsboro; five grandchildren: Erin Gold (Andrew), Jordan Grimes (Alena), Brooke Hinman, Lacey Hinman, and Jacob Hinman; and a brother: Jerry Hinman (Shelia) of Elmira. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to Corky's life at his farm at 35 Corky Road from 11:00am to 1:00pm Sunday August, 23 2026, and to his funeral service to follow at the farm at 1:00pm.
