Late in the afternoon, on Sunday, January 16, 2022, our family said a final farewell to a woman who greatly influenced our lives. Lucille "Wendy" Cornell married her true love, Stephen Cornell on July 3, 1981, forever bonding their children Christine (Gary) Hulse Cardinale, Mary (Curt) Owlett, Carol (Carl) Buss, and James (Kelly) Cornell. This love continued to blossom resulting in the blessing of nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Lucille was the youngest daughter of John and Lucille Spagnola, born on June 22, 1945, in Newark, NJ. She resided in Brick Township with her siblings: Lee Glass Lahr, Augustine Spagnola, Patricia Oenski, and a special aunt Arlene McCafferty. She was a hardworking, independent, individual, who managed Cornell's Country Plaza, drove school bus, and waitressed for many years at Hatherill's Restaurant and the Wellsboro Diner. She served her community through her volunteer efforts. She had an affinity for animals, she was most fond of her horses and ponies. She was a compassionate and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed. If you had the privilege of meeting her, even for a brief moment, you would have seen the light in her eyes and the love in her smile. A blessing that each of her family members had the honor and privilege to experience. Her home was the central location filled with love and family activities. From making cookies with the great-grandchildren to playing table games with friends and family. She was proud of the home she kept and devoted to showing love to all she welcomed there. Her family has entrusted her arrangements to the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA, and in accordance with her wishes there will be no public services. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. To share a memory or condolence please visit www.tusseymosher.com.
