Leroy B. Young

LeRoy "Stub" B. Young, 81, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Heritage Springs Memory Care in Montoursville, PA. He was born July 25, 1943, in Wellsboro, PA, to the late Francis A. and Margaret (VanOrder) Young. LeRoy was the youngest of five siblings. He was married for 62 years to Sue E. (Wilcox) Young. His first job of 17 years, gained him the knowledge of masonry. He went on to use this as a side job, that he did with his sons, building many basements in Tioga Co. He then went to work for PennDOT , where he started out as dispatcher, and then went on to become sign foreman, retiring after 27 years. He enjoyed people, talked, and teased everyone with his great sense of humor. During his younger days, he hunted and fished with family. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching golf and baseball. He cheered for the NY Yankees and traveled to see them play on a few occasions. Recently he became a Pittsburgh Pirates fan. After he retired, he and Sue could be seen traveling the roads of Tioga and surrounding counties. His back porch reflected his talent for creating and displaying his decorative lights. LeRoy is survived by his wife, children, Kim (Mike) Steinbacher of Montoursville, Kelly (Tracy) Young of Wellsboro, and LeRoy (Amy) Young of Barre, VT, twelve grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (Jackie) Young of Montoursville and sister-in-law, Faith (Donald) Young of Wellsboro. LeRoy was preceded in death by three of his brothers: Eugene, Donald, and Andrew. A celebration of life will be held on July 24, 2025 at 1:00 at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home , 139 Main Street, Wellsboro. Friends and family are invited to a visitation prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will take place following in the Shumway Hill Cemetery, Wellsboro, PA.
