Lamar Gerald Green

August 20, 1929 — January 30, 2018

Lamar Gerald Green, age 88 of Seymour Hill Road, Mansfield, PA died on January 30, 2018. Born on August 20, 1929 in Mt. Carmel, PA, he was the son of late Charles and Alma Lubold Green. He was a 1948 graduate of the Hegins Township High School and the Pennsylvania State Police Academy on August 8, 1955.

Lamar retired with the rank of Sergeant from the Pennsylvania State Police, Mansfield, PA after 33 ½ years of service. He then served as the Tioga County Sheriff and Prison Warden for 10 ½ years after his retirement from the State Police.

He was a member of the Retired State Police Association, National Troopers Coalition and Pennsylvania Sheriff’s Association. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Germany as a member of the Military Police.

He was active in the Fraternal Order of Police, Mansfield; Friendship Lodge #247, Mansfield and a member of the Williamsport Consistory. He held a lifetime membership in the VFW #6757, Mansfield; was a Fifty year member of the Hillside Rod and Gun Club, Blossburg; lifetime membership in the Anthracite Fire Company in Mt. Carmel with 69 years; a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Wellsboro and a member of the National Rifle Association of America. He was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wellsboro, PA.

He is survived by a daughter, Christina Green of Mechanicsburg, PA, his wife Jean of Mansfield, and a brother and sister-in-law Scott and Sharon Green of Hegins, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alma Green, a brother Charles and a sister Jacqueline Rothermel all of Hegins, PA.

Visitation Wednesday ,February 7, 2018, from 5-7pm at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA.  A funeral service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 53 West Avenue, Wellsboro, PA with the Rev. Fred Poeppel officiating, Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 10:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made in Lamar’s memory to the Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Wellsboro Cemetery.
