Joseph Thomas Bergen

Joseph Thomas Bergen, 92, of Wellsboro, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at Darway Health Center, Forksville. Joseph was born March 28, 1934, in Philadelphia, the son of the late James and Ann (Cummings) Bergen. He was the husband of Marie A. (Weidemann) Bergen, who survives.

Joseph worked as a fuel truck driver and was a proud Marine veteran, serving in the Korean War. He enjoyed history, following the news, spending time with his family members including taking his grandchildren to Virginia in his RV.

In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by a daughter, Andrea (Gordon) Harris of Isle of Man; sons: Stephen Bergen of Barto; John Janelli of Wellsboro; Matthew Janelli of Stevens; Mark (Nancy) Janelli of Wellsboro; Keith Janelli of Mansfield; grandchildren: Shawna (Jeremy), Tyler (Jessica), Bridget (Gregory), Kieleigh, Isabella, Amber, Garrett, Joell, Rebecca, and Andrew; great grandchildren: Sophia, Finnegan, Brenden, and many nieces and nephews including Patricia Leber. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his first two wives: Joan Bergen, and Mary Bergen, a son, Joseph A. Bergen.

Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects, Monday, October 12, 2026, from 1-2pm, at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, a memorial service will follow at 2pm with Military Honors. A private burial will be in Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, NJ. The family suggest memorial contributions to be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 53 West Ave., Wellsboro, PA 16901.
