Helen L. (Labar) Antrim

Helen L. Antrim, 98, formerly of The Laurels, 39 Central Avenue, Wellsboro, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Moravian Manor in Lititz, PA. She was born May 16, 1924, in Dallas, PA to Clarence and Margaret (Bennett) LaBar. She married Ralph C. Antrim, Jr. and together they raised three children. Helen was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wellsboro. Helen graduated from Dallas High School, Dallas, PA , where she was captain of her basketball team. She married her husband Ralph in 1945, and was a career military wife until her husband's retirement and move to Wellsboro in 1968. Upon coming to Tioga County, she created a home for her family in Middlebury Center, where she lived for many years. After her husband's death in 1992, Helen moved to Wheatland, WY, to live near her elder daughter until returning to Wellsboro to move into The Laurels in 2002. Helen was a fiercely independent woman of faith and love. She enjoyed sports, pinochle, crossword puzzles, and calls and visits from friends and family members. She counted the staff of the Laurels among her dearest friends. Her family is deeply grateful for the loving care she received there for 20 years, and for the spiritual support offered to her by the minister and care teams of Wellsboro UMC. She is survived by two daughters: Anda Johnson (Lyle) of Spearfish, SD, and Erin Maurer of Elizabethtown, PA; three grandchildren (Donnan, Nevan, and Elizabeth); six great-grandchildren ; 1 great-great granddaughter, and her brother-in-law, Will Ide. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ralph; her sisters, Della Hope and Dora LaBar; and her son, Ralph C. Antrim, III. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA, and there will be a private family service at a later date when she is interred with her husband and son in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wellsboro United Methodist Church, Box 547, 36 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA .
