Harold R. Keck

Harold R. Keck, Jr. has returned to the Good Lord to rest in peace with his beloved wife, Helen, who passed away in 2015. Harold and Helen were devotedly married for 65 years, a journey that began when he first asked her out while they were in the 8th grade. Harold was a lifelong resident of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania and graduated in 1948 from the Wellsboro Area High school. During high school, in the midst of World War II, Harold contributed to the war efforts by keeping watch for bombers on top of the Penn Wells Hotel. His professional career was marked by his dedication as an accountant at Taynton’s Trucking for approximately 30 years, where he eventually became the Office Manager, and later at Arnot Building Supply for over 10 years. Harold was a lifetime member of the Wellsboro First Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for over 60 years. He was also a long-time member of the Wellsboro’s Men’s Chorus. An avid golfer, Harold could recount with clarity and detail nearly every hole he had ever played. He was also passionate about hunting and was a second-generation member of the Cobble Hill Hunting Club, where he cherished the camp camaraderie as much as the hunting itself. In addition to golf and hunting, he enjoyed walking, horseshoe pitching, and ice skating. He also had a passion for bowling, woodworking, drawing, and watching the Golf Channel. He is survived by his sons Edward (Marla), Ronald (Kathy), David (Tamara), and Brian (Paulette); sister, Connie Peters; half-siblings Donald Keck (Shirley), Debi Radaker, Carol Kreger (Jeff), Karen Stanley, and Steve Keck (Kathryn); several nieces and nephews, including Scott Keck (Karen), who did so much for him over the last several years; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Harold was predeceased by his parents, Harold Keck, Sr. and Florence (Pope) Keck, his sisters Rosa Mae Shaw and Elsie Mattison, and his brother Alan. Harold R. Keck will be remembered for his dedication, talents, and the joy he brought to his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects, Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 12:30-1:00 pm at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm with his pastor, Michael Birbeck, officiating.  Burial will be private in Wellsboro Cemetery.  To share a memory or condolence with Harold’s family visit www.tusseymosher.com.
