Elthea Rose Broughton

Elthea R. Broughton, 99, of Morris, passed peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Broad Acres Nursing Home in Wellsboro, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James R. Broughton on January 1, 2011.

She was born on June 22, 1927 near Draper, PA. She was the daughter of the late Orville and Pheobe (Borden) Butler. She was a graduate of Wellsboro High School.

Elthea was very active in the Morris United Methodist Church, worked at Calkins Photography and the Wellsboro A&P, served as a telephone switchboard operator, secretary of the Morris Township Supervisors and Assistant Postmaster in the Morris Post Office. She was known for her generosity, kindness and undying faith.

She enjoyed camping with her husband and family at Seneca Lake, NY. She also enjoyed reading and embroidering.

Surviving are her four sons: Ransford (Linda) of Morris, Donald (Patricia) of Sterling, PA, Kevin (Kimberly) of Kingsport, TN, Brian (Jamie) of The Villages, FL, and her brother, Lewellyn Butler (age 101) of Morris, PA. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews

The funeral will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro, PA. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Pastor William Danis of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church will be officiating.
