Donald L. Smithgall

Donald L. Smithgall, 85, of Wellsboro, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at his residence.  He was the husband of Sally (Gee) Smithgall who preceded him in death.  Donald was born January 18, 1930 in Wellsboro, the son of the late Otto R. and Ina (Callahan) Smithgall.

He was a graduate of Wellsboro High School with the Class of 1948. Donald was owner/operator of Borden’s Auto Parts for 37 years. He was a member of Wellsboro United Methodist Church. A member of Ossea Lodge #317 F. & A. M; member and former treasurer of Wellsboro Lions Club; member of Coudersport Consistory and longtime treasurer and member of the Wellsboro Riding Club. In addition, he was Director of PAWA, (PA Auto Wholesaler Association).

Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Craig Fields; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Judy Smithgall, all of Wellsboro; son, Evan Smithgall, Centreville, VA; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Louise Smithgall, Wellsboro; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Smithgall of Canton, Jane Struckman, Leesburg, FL and Dorothy Smithgall of Wellsboro; sister, Betty Jean and Scott Heim, New Garden, PA; brothers-in-law, Clark Gee and Pete Gorda. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his brothers, Frederick , William, Kenneth and Raymond Smithgall; three sisters, Dorothy Rupert, Clarabell Bowen and Catherine Scase.

Friends and family are invited to Donald’s Life Celebration on Saturday, November 28, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro.  Funeral service, Sunday November 29, 2015, 2:00 PM at the Wellsboro United Methodist Church, Main and Queen Sts., Wellsboro,  with Pastor Richard Hanlon officiating.  Interment in Wellsboro Cemetery.
