Donald Lee Broughton

Donald Lee Broughton, 89, of Tioga, PA, died on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Guthrie Corning Hospital in Corning, NY. He was born June 14, 1929 in Morris, PA, the son of the late Fred and Mabel Helen (Kohler) Broughton. Donald is survived by his wife, Sharon (GrosJean) Broughton. They shared over 30 years together.

Donald was U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War, where he was injured while driving tanks.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sayre.  Donald attended church services at First Presbyterian Church in Tioga, PA. He was an avid bowler and fisherman and received many awards over the years for his skills.

Quiet, soft spoken, strong man, very kind and likeable, always willing to lend a hand, these are the qualities that Donald possessed.  He was faithful to his family and taught all his children and grandchildren how to fish. His favorite meal of the day was his breakfast, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Sharon, are his sons, Tim Broughton of State College, PA; Kelly Broughton (Anita) of Encinitas, CA; and Todd Broughton of Vista, CA; step-son, Kevin (Peggy) Sears of Eugene, OR; grandchildren, Eryn, Gavin, Sarah, Dustin, Katie; four great-grandchildren; brother, Ken Broughton (Paula), Jackson Hole, WY; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by all his siblings, except his brother, Ken.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Donald's name to the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 122, Tioga, PA 16946.

A receiving of family and friends will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., 139 Main St. Wellsboro, PA.  Donald’s funeral service to follow at 11:30 AM, with Pastor Debbie Button officiating.  Burial will be in Wellsboro Cemetery.
