Diana L. (Gerow) French

Diana (Gerow) French, 75, of Wellsboro, passed away Sunday, January 28, at UPMC Williamsport. She was born March 12, 1948, in Blossburg, PA. Her mother, Lillian Gastrock and step-father, William Gastrock, Sr., raised eight children together of which Diana was the eldest. Diana excelled at secretarial work, having attended secretarial school in Syracuse. In her early career, she was a secretary for attorneys Owlett and Lewis as well as the Whitneyville Vocational School until she became a pharmacist technician for Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital from which she retired. She was a long-time member of Christ Church, and her love of children led her to serve volunteering in the Awana program and with the Child Evangelism Fellowship ministry where she especially enjoyed the summer camps at Ives Run. Diana had a green thumb and loved plants, from house plants to edible wild plants. She would attend workshops where she enjoyed learning about plants and sharing that knowledge. Diana is survived by her husband: Dean French of Wellsboro; two daughters: Holly Friend of Wellsboro, Deanna (Miguel) Dodge of Crisfield, MD, and a son: Aric (Delise) French of Ovid, MI; five grandchildren: Ashley Friend, Corey French, Charryn Fullilove, Zakary Friend, and Aric French, Jr.; a brother: William Gastrock, Jr.; three sisters: Janet Smith, Violet Ralph, and Karen Gamlen; and a sister: Janlyn Shumway. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lilian Gastrock, and step-father: Irving Gerow, as well as three sisters: Maureen, Sylvia, and Beth; and a grandchild: Adrian French. Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to Diana's life on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm in the funeral home.
