Charles Douglas "Doug" McMichael, 83, of Wellsboro, passed away July 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 14, 1941, in Blossburg to Charles Brion and Louise Ruth (Wilson) McMichael. He graduated from Wellsboro High School and on May 18, 1985, married Carolyn Berfield. He enjoyed playing games, playing music and singing, and especially enjoyed playing his guitar. Doug was widely known in the area from managing the local Super Duper or Eckerd Drug Store, and his steadfast involvement in the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, to his faithful local support of the First Baptist Church and involvement in the Wellsboro Rotary Club where he received the Paul Harris Award. Doug's involvement in and support of the Wellsboro community cannot be overstated. Doug is survived by his wife: Carolyn L. McMichael; son: Dennis (Cheryl) McMichael; two daughters: Debra L. McMichael and Diane (Jeff) Wilson; four grandsons; six granddaughters; two great-granddaughters (and one on the way in August 2024); a brother: Jim (Vaudine) McMichael; three step-daughters: Lisa (Bob) Zakowski, Michelle (Paul) Roell, and Kimberly (Ben) Schrass; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents a sister: Carolyn F. McMichael, and his first wife: Delores Selleck. Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to Doug's life from 10-11am Saturday July 27, 2024, at the Wellsboro First Baptist Church 25 Central Avenue Wellsboro, PA, with a memorial service to follow at 11am in the church, officiated by pastor Drew Simcox. The Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA 16901 has been entrusted with his arrangements.
