Carolyn Louise McMichael, 82, of Wellsboro, passed away November 7, 2025, at Esther’s House Center for Hospice, Elkhart, IN.
She was born December 20, 1942, in New Castle, the daughter of the late Arnold and Dorothy (Mahon) Berfield. Carol graduated from Galeton High School in 1960, where she was an active student, participating as a cheerleader and serving as Galeton's candidate for the Laurel Festival Queen.
On May 18, 1985, she married Charles Douglas “Doug” McMichael and shared 39 wonderful years together until his passing on July 21, 2024.
Carol was a loving and devoted mother to her three daughters. She poured her love into handmaking clothes for her girls, even crafting matching outfits for their baby dolls. She was skilled in crochet and had a beautiful touch with everything she created.
Carol was a member of the First Baptist Church, Wellsboro. She enjoyed volunteering and caring for her friends and family, especially after her retirement. She also cherished her close relationships with her several dear friends.
Carol is survived by daughters: Lisa (Bob) Zakowski, Michelle (Paul) Roell, and Kimberly (Ben) Schrass; stepson: Dennis (Cheryl) McMichael; stepdaughters: Debra L. McMichael and Diane (Jeff) Wilson; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother: Dean Berfield; and a sister: Geraldine Erhard. In addition to her husband and parents, Carol was preceded in death by a sister: Joyce Berfield.
Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to Carol’s life from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro, with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
