Arthur D. Heiny

August 5, 1931 — January 22, 2017

Arthur D. Heiny, 85, of Wellsboro, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at The Green Home after an extended battle with cancer.  He was born August 5, 1931 in Williamsport, PA to Howard R. and Kathryn McCormick Heiny.  On December 4, 1999 he married his wife of the last seventeen years, Christine.

After graduating high school (Williamsport High School class of ’49) Mr. Heiny worked in the family business Heiny Tire.  Later he developed a career in corporate sales, his last employer being the Hughes Aircraft Company. After retiring, he moved to the Wellsboro area and pursued his hobbies of fly-fishing and photography.  Art was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wellsboro, the Wellsboro Men’s Chorus, a Life Member and Co-Founder of the Wellsboro Photography Club, and the American Cancer Society Survivors’ Club.    He enjoyed travelling domestically and internationally.  Art loved dogs.  He bred and trained champion Irish Water Spaniels, but his favorite was his English Springer Spaniel Whitney.

Arthur is survived by his wife Christine of Wellsboro; one son:  Kip Heiny of New Jersey; one daughter:  Karen Taniguchi of New Jersey; two grandchildren:  Stephen Taniguchi of Long Island, NY and Mark Taniguchi of New Jersey; three nieces:  Christina, Kimberly and Marcia; one nephew:  H. Robert “Chip” Heiny of Williamsport, two step-children:  Stephanie Hubbard of Los Angeles, CA, and John Hubbard of Union Springs, NY; and the mother of his children:  Norma Boatman Heiny of New Jersey.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother:  H. Robert Heiny.

Friends and family are invited to Art’s Life Celebration on Thursday January 26, 2017 at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street, Wellsboro from 5-7pm, with a memorial service Friday January 27 at the First Presbyterian Church at 11am Rev. Michael Birbeck and Rev. Roger Wagner officiating.
